A stainless nata (hatchet) made from premium DSR-1K6 cutlery steel, hardened to HRC58 for a tough, keen edge with excellent rust resistance. It suits gardening tasks such as splitting bamboo and outdoor work such as clearing brush.
For safety, the handle carries a wrist strap. A nata relies on a certain weight for its cutting performance, so a slip of the hand can cause injury — an issue that has come up in forestry volunteer work, where more elderly volunteers are now taking part. The strap helps keep the tool secure in use. Made from fully hardened steel, it is tough and can be re-sharpened for long service.
