• The blade is Blue Steel No. 2, which holds an edge for a long time and is easy to sharpen.
• The hinoki wood handle is light and fits comfortably in the hand.
• The tang extends deep into the handle so there is no wobble; as sharpening shortens the tang, the handle can be trimmed down to keep using the tool.
• Has a right-angled edge, used to thinly shave wide surfaces, round off corners, and smooth out unevenness into a flat surface.
• Smaller sizes are thin and can break easily, so handle them with care.
