• The shinogi (ridge line) is formed by grinding down the unsharpened side of the blade, narrowing the tip so it can reach into tight spaces and making the tool easier to work with.
• Material is shirogami (white paper steel), a type of Yasuki steel produced at the Yasuki plant in Yasuki City, Shimane Prefecture, long known as the source of tamahagane steel used in Japanese swords.
