Nagaokanekoma is a blade manufacturer based in Miki City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. The company was founded in 1894 by the first-generation Komataro Nagao and began with the production of Hirata knives. Later, it started manufacturing the traditional folding knife known as “Higonokami,” a craft that has been passed down for five generations. In 1910, the name “Higonokami” was registered as a trademark, and today Nagaokanekoma is the only manufacturer that continues to produce knives under this registered name. The company preserves the traditional techniques of Higonokami while continuing its manufacturing with a focus on maintaining this historic craft.
